Summer 2022 at Hartmannswillerkopf
At the Hartmannswillerkopf we are looking forward to our visitors this summer. Whether you want to take a walk on the battlefield or visit our Franco-German Historial, our memorial site will delight young and old.
In addition to the new exhibition dedicated to the representation of the Great War in the cinema, you will also be able to immerse yourself in the history of the site thanks to two treasure hunts that will lead you through the battlefield. The traditional summer guided tours as well as the archaeological workshops for young people will also be renewed.
Wednesday tours
On Wednesday afternoons, visitors will walk with a guide through loop 1 of the scenographic tour where they will discover the French positions, and in particular the emblematic Roche Sermet, and then the first German line.

Duration of the visit: approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes - Free for visitors to the Historial with a 2022 admission ticket
Good shoes and rain gear are recommended as this is a mountain site.

Workshops for young people on the archaeology of the Great War
This year, the Historial franco-allemand welcomes a new educational tool for our young public. During a workshop, children will improvise themselves as archaeologists in the heart of two trench evocations. Armed with their tools, they will be able to discover the history of this major site of the Great War through various original historical remains that they will bring to light themselves.
- Every Friday morning from July 11 to August 29, 2022, starting at 10:30 am.
Duration of the workshop : 1 hour 30 minutes - Price : 8 €.
Workshop for children from 8 to 14 years old. The workshop ticket also includes admission to the Historial and access to the afternoon guided tour, provided that an adult accompanies the child (fee).

In-depth visits of the battlefield
During an afternoon rich in discoveries, visitors will retrace the whole of the scenographic trail. The walk will lead them to the German rear where the technical and logistical infrastructures are located (cable car, compressed air plant, ...) but also the emblematic monument of the 15-2 and the unobstructed view which is offered to them on the plain of the Rhine and the Black Forest.

The ticket, valid for the day, also allows you to discover the Franco-German Historial of the Great War freely before the visit.
