Mediation at Hartmannswillerkopf in 2024

The Comité du Monument National du Hartmannswillerkopf is offering visitors to this First World War site personalised cultural and memorial mediation, in French and German, for individual visitors.

From Monday to Sunday and on public holidays, tours will be offered in the morning and afternoon at the Franco-German Historial of the Great War and at the Monument National.

The visit is based on three points:

Presentation of the Franco-German Historial of the Great War

The permanent exhibition and seasonal exhibitions The Monument National (Crypt and Altar of the Fatherland)

Practical information

Tours with a mediator are available every day at 11am and 3pm, starting from the Historial reception area. This tour is free for holders of a day ticket for the Historial. What's new in 2024 for our mediators

This new season will be marked by the Centenary of the creation of the Comité du Monument National du Hartmannswillerkopf. To mark the occasion, we will be offering some exceptional visits to present the association and the missions it carries out at this major site of the Great War, focusing on the transmission of memory and the enhancement of the National Monument and the HWK site.

Practical information

These visits will be offered every Wednesday at 2.00 pm starting on 10 April, the anniversary of the creation of the CMNHWK.

Throughout the presentation of the seasonal exhibition " 14-18 funerary and memorial sites in Alsace-Moselle and the Vosges Massif inscribed on the World Heritage List", we will also be offering in-depth mediation sessions. These will look at theevolution of the burials given to servicemen during the Great War, giving you the chance to discover this extraordinary heritage.
